my buddy said he was getting 1.5" groups at 100 yards with some sierra hallow point stuff. now he gets 1/2" at 100 yards with hornady 180gr SST, same stuff he loads his 30-06 and 300 mag with IIRC

You are absolutely right, though boar here can get huge. I never said I NEEDED a 308, I said it would be fun, as stated price wise why not, I wont take it long range hunting it would be for the fun...
