Re: What's the best 1st Full Auto?

I'd say an AR-15 with a .22lr conversion. A LOT more bang for your buck, and you can always fit the bolt with the Norrel type of cyclic rate reducer, to get the cyclic rate down from 30 shots a...

Re: how do i purchase a full auto?

It's worthless any way. No more hits, no faster than semiauto. Just wastes ammo. YOu CAN make your own sound suppressor, after paying the Feds their $200 and jumping thru the hoops. At least, you...

Re: just for fun......if you had to pick a .380 what would it be?

actually, there are 1911 variants that are smaller and lighter than the Mak. If the Mak was $600 and the ammo was 25c a shot, you would see exactly ZERO people buying them. Yet we see thousands of...

Re: If you could only have 3

Personally, I would cheerfully skip the shotgun completely, in favor of another pistol. I'd choose the AR-15 and an alloy framed version of the 1911, because both can be changed to fire so many...

Re: how well do semi-wadcutters work for self defense?

you don't have to stop animals INSTANTLY, while you do have such a need with a human attacker. If you do happen to need to stop an animal, you have to brain it to have any reliable expectation of...

Re: New to hunting

I'd look for a 20" barreled, alloy framed version of the BAR Browning auto rifle. Its gas op action soaks up about 1/4 of the recoil. I'd get it in 308, so that I could have lots of practice with...

Re: Minimum bbl length for .233

You ain't in the military. Shooting at what you can't see (ie, behind "cover") is a good way to run out of ammo. If the enemy has cover, YOU better have cover. If you don't have any cover, you...

Re: High powered long range rifle?

you don't know what you are talking about. The match 223 bullets actually outperform the 168 gr bthp 308 bullets at 1000 yds, with regard to the wind and other factors. Thats why the guys are using...

Do you know how far you can trust buckshot?

it's not very far at all, especially from a 20" barrel that has no choke. The round lead pellets rapidly lose their velocity and power. Some loads, like the Sellior and Belliot buchshot, only start...

The SB is not a 357, and it is an SA, with the slow hammer fall and the ton of bricks hammer impact and the plow handle grip problem of getting a different grip each time.

Re: High powered long range rifle?

You aint watching very close, cause the 223 AR-15's are doing very well at 1000 yds. Mostly because the best shooters use them for the other stuff, and they like and know their rifles very well.

Re: How often do you clean your 1911?

I once put 24,000 rds thru my MkIV 1911 in 6 weeks, cleaned it 8x, and wouldn't have done 2 of those, except students wanted to see how it's done. :-) Bullseye powder and Tamarack 50/50 lube, never...
