Re: ballpark value on german dagger

Hunter, you mention an SS dagger but the illustration is an SA dagger (FAR more common than SS).
The P marking designates Pommern (Pomerania); the SA were organized by districts.
An SA dagger in...

Re: Long Blade Question

I second Gunny- that Woodsmans Pal is the tits. The only 'con' is that it's short- if you need reach, go for the longer machete types.

Re: civil war bayonet?

There were some repros out of Japan in the mid 60s that were superbly done; properly aged they could (and probably do) pass for originals now.

Nice buncha blades, Skull! That 'Nazi paratroopers knife' is a fantasy item, though; like the Nazi butterfly knives you see now and then.

Re: Happiness is a Clean Bayonet

Aardvark, the final look of your grips- if you want them to be close to original- depends on what year they were made. And by that I refer to the way standards changed during the course of the war. ...

Re: Information on Bayonet?

Not a VZ24 and really not worth much in that shape, emt. It's a generic FN Mauser type bayonet, produced by the hundreds of thousands in the 20s and 30s for export to accompany rifle orders from...

Re: Need some help finding info on this old Sheffield.

I'm going to speculate that this is a 19th Century blade that has been rather crudely re-hilted. The hilt is almost certainly not original to the blade...

Re: Info on Early Spanish Navajas folding knife ?

I like the shape of that blade... the handle doesn't look as though it provides a good grip for heavy work but I woulda bought it too, OFC- though I see it's up on eBay for a price too rich for me!

Re: Sharpen your blade with a coffee cup

The coffee cup thing is not new; I was doing it in the late 70s. It will restore a fine edge but won't do much for a thoroughly dulled blade.
Neat thing to know, though.
