Re: Please help identify and value a pair antique pistols

I believe they came from a boxed set of dueling pistols. If they had the box, they would be worth several thousand. Without it, about $1500.

Re: Do you belong?

The organization you speak of is becoming a foot note in the history of politics. Their support did not affectively help the Republicans that could have made a difference in Washington. They wasted...

Re: Did you sign secession petition?

If you sign that petition and it is turned into a government agency, you will be forever listed in their minds as a nutcase. I would never willingly associate myself with any action that could be...

Re: Need help to I.D. my Muzzleloader.

It's an Italian in-line. Check with Century Arms to see if they imported it. You need to size the pictures so they don't exceed the screen size.

Re: An Old Jaeger?

Very interesting gun. I am surprised that it does not have a patchbox. Most Jagers do. The style of the lock indicates it is an early original percussion, not a flint conversion. It should be...

New Sturmgewehr thread

After reading some of the posts in the previous forum, I decided to post some pictures and info on the original form of the rifle. It appears that most people do not understand the the basis for...

Check out the NRA competitions division for matches in your area. Most are shot with special compeition rifles, however there is an F class where you can shoot factory scoped rifles.

Re: 30.06 shooting funny

The belief that the barrel temperature makes a gun shoot poorly is BUNK. You can't shoot a bolt action rifle fast enough to make the barrel "warp". If the bore condition is within acceptable...

Re: Blunderbuss or blunderbust?

Made in Turkey for the tourist trade. Spent a couple of months in the manure pile. They have been making this type of "souvenir" for the past 150 years.

The brass was not properly annealed before it was reduced from a straight wall case to a necked case. Send it back to Win and request a replacement.

Re: Harpers Ferry 1816p dated 1828 percussion

It's a "wall hanger" grade musket. Lock plate screws are brass instead of steel. If the barrel is pitted on the outside, they will usually be the same condition inside. I would call it a...

Re: Trying to identify a rifle

Save your money and wait for a better rifle. Originals are just a few dollars more. Bubba sporters have little to no collector value and are difficult to sell.

Re: 243 brass

The 243 is a high pressure ctg and I would not buy once fired brass for reloading. If it was shot in a Savage, it will not last long reloading it. Any fired in a slopply chamber will crack at the...

Re: 1870 Springfield Trapdoor-Help Identifying

Your rifle is not an 1870 TD. It is a Model 1868 made in 1870. If it was a correct 1870, the breach block would have the word MODEL over the date. Model 1870s were not serial numbered. Some were...

Re: 44-40 rolling block rifle

It is not a Navy arms action since it does not have a brass trigger guard. It is a smokeless powder military action.
