Re: is this even possible?
Never seen chinese 44 mag ammo. I'd think that you'd bout have to compress a bunch of Bullseye or some other fast burning power to blow a cylinder apart.
Pics make you think about what you should...

Re: 44mag powders
You can pretty well do it all with Unique and 2400, but H110/W296 would be my choice for full house loads.

Re: GI45 getting new sights
I agree.... This gun was a Christmas present from my wife. Who knows I like 1911a1's but doesn't know why some are $400 and others cost $2000.
Like I said in 1st post, sights are my only complaint....

Re: Cast Bullet alloy & hardness
I'd think anything over 5% (tin) would be a waste. As 10 Spot said, tin will help your alloy in how it flows, but will only aid in hardening just so much. If it was mine I would use it sparingly....

11.5 gr. of Herco is super accurate out of my 4 5/8" barreled SBH and M77/44. Using Lee's TL240grSWC. (44mag).
I'm out of Herco, but have Unique. 8 gr. of Unique works well in SBH but is not so...

Nope, but did load 100 185gr. Golden Sabre's using Unique 8.0 gr the other day. 8.2 is what Alliant showed. Went out today to see if they would run ok. Never a hiccup. Very mild mannered too. 45ACP
