Thanks for the great replies...

On the receiver...'the image above' looks like rust, but it's actually dust and grime. Edges show original steel. Below the Barrel (band back, top of mag) I used...

Winchester 1892 clean-up question??

Hello...
I just purchased a great 1892 (38-40)... Wear in the wood, and bottom of magazine where it was place on a gun rack.
What I thought was pitting...seems to be a brown film, which I think...

Here is a Ithaca 10GA 'B' model...I think it's a Baker model, but wanted the forums ideas.

Numbers matching: seriel # 25 thousand and change.
Patents May 1880 through Sept. 13, 1887. ...

I apologize for my lack of gun knowledge...these items were handed down to me from my grandfather.

You're right..it's 33.5 to the bolt...I was considering the octagon chamber...

The barrel is 29 1/2 -30 " (total lenghth of rifle 53")...single shot...with J.G. M/71 .

I thought the J.G. M/71 marking would make it a Jaeger model?

10,95 on the receiver with the (hard to read) words Amberg?? with crown above it...I believe there is a pic on the...

I was having trouble finding images...Crest looks very close, but my item is not as nice. The barrell on my item seems to be almost oval.
