Savage 99A in 250
Hello. Anyone know the approximate value of a Savage Model 99A lever actioin in 250 Savage? Light wear, I'd say 95%. Made in the mid 1970s.

Re: reloading 30-06 questions
I pretty much just use IMR 4064 with 150gr bullets; IMR4350 with 180 and 200gr bullets.
You really don't need anything else, but I've also had excellent results with IMR 4320.

Thanks for the input all. Yea it's unfired, but no box or papers. Was just curious on the value knowing it was not a pre-64.

Winchester 94
Any idea of the value of a Winchester Model 94 in 30/30 - made in 1967, never been fired since leaving the factory?

Re: 30-06 Favorite Loads
Another load for 180gr bullets is 48gr of IMR4064. I've used Speer RN bullets many times with that and they are accurate as well as deadly on WI Whitetails.

Re: 30-06 Favorite Loads
56gr is pretty standard in IMR4350 and listed as a max load in most manuals. Sometimes more. I know Ken Waters, in his books listed as getting the best accuracy with 55gr, and that makes sense.
I...

56gr of IMR4350 and a 180gr Sierra Spitzer

48gr or IMR4320 and a 150gr Hornady Spire Point for a mild and accurate load

Re: Rifles?
I use a Remington 700BDL in 30/06. I've hunted in SD, MT, WI and MI. I mostly hunt in WI these days. I've used both 150gr and 180gr depending on the circumstances but frankly it usually doesn't...

Re: Trap & skeet shooting
Ruger Red Label. New will be more than $1K. But there are always some on ********* or AuctionArms for less than a grand. I've seen many go in the $800 range sometimes up to a grand.

S&W 4563TSW

Re: Whats up with savage 340.
I found out how....you pull the trigger as you pull the bolt back. Simple, but I've never felt comfortable pulling the trigger on a gun I didn't want to fire.

Is there any way to tell when the firearm was manufactured? It...

According to Ken Waters' "Pet Loads" by Wolfe Publishing, 1978 and 2001,
58gr of H4831 for a 130gr bullet. "very accurate" --- 2941fps in a 22" bbl
also
60gr of H4831 for a 130gr bullet, but...

Re: New Speer Manual
I agree, I compare the manuals all the time. I still have Speer #9 and refer back to it frequently.
Some of the newer manual loads seem slow in the 30/06. Both the #9 and the #14 show 52gr of...

What I find...

30/06 Youth Deer Loads
I'll be taking a teenager deer hunting this fall. Thought I'd start assembling light 30/06 loads.
I have some Speer 150 gr flat points (30-30) bullets. They're accurate with about 43.5 gr of IMR...
