That is correct, but it is not a standard dovetail. Kind of hard to explain, but it is called a pinned dovetail.

The shelves are just pieces of 3/4" ply with a strip of 3/4" x3/4" Walnut glued and finish nailed to it. Very simple.

I like mine as well. It of course runs the Mini Mags fine, but also Rem Thunder Bolts as well. I imagine it would run fine with about any 40 gr High Velocity (1200fps or better) ammo. Great little...
