Actually I used a standard Remington 8x57 over the counter $5.95 a box shells
note the price on the box (41 years ago). The dealer I bought the rifle...

The reason for this inquiry is that I have an older Mauser rifle.
It seems to have been made at the Mauser-Werk, Oberndorf A-G.
