I have a little Ruger RL MK2 in .257 Roberts.
I put a timney trigger in it, free floated the barrel and mounted a VX3 2.5X8 on her. So far the only load it really likes is the one I mentioned on...

If you can get 2800 FPS it aught to do well for ya. I took my 1st mule deer with the Roberts this year and i just love it !
My load is a 100 grain barnes tripple shock over 46 grains of H-414....

I too would go with a .308. Nothing more accurate out there, and although i have never shot one, I bet the laminated CZ target varmint rifle would be a Tack driving son of a gun...tj3006
