I've done it a few times and regretted it. It's way more work and money than you can imagine to turn a milsurp into a half way competent sporter. Making a mauser suitable for a scope...

From what I can see it looks suspiciously like an early Spanish made replica, mainly because you don't have the wood shrinkage expected on a 150 yr. old firearm and it really looks too good.

Do not go beyond field stripping. Lots of owners who try a tear down end up shipping it to CZ for reassembly or lose parts.

It's also legal, under federal law, to make a firearm for your own use, NOT RESALE, that doesn't have to have a serial number. It's not real easy, except with AK47s, unless you have some decent...

You might try a Ballister Molina. I bought a number of them, fixed them up, parkerized. Got new US GI magazines. I still have 2 and enjoy shooting them. Just like a 1911A1 except they aren't fussy...

If you buy a used RIA or any Phillipines made 1911 make sure its a real Armscor. It's not common anymore but some garage operations there made crude copies of the 1911 and S&W revolvers and sold...
