I've read about using JB weld or loctite to hold weaver bases on old rifles. I have a old Rem 550 and bases but not tried loctite or JB weld. Have to try it when it warms up a little.

I bought a 39D last year and like it. It's handier than my 39A. Put a old Redfield 22 rimfire 3/4- 4 power scope on it. Scope is as clear as when I Bought it in the 70's.

Pre safety is my choice. I have a 39A bought new in 73.
Have a few more that I shoot but the 39A is my favorite.
Had trigger worked on long time ago. It's 2 lbs. Can't go
wrong on a good used one.

I have a m 41, Ruger mk1 bull barrel a mk2 slab sided with a scope. With a rest the mk2 beats the smith. Off hand the smith is better. The scope makes the mk2 more accurate. Can see the cross hairs...
