In 1969 the first two numbers are your date of manufacture...hence the 69xxxx serial.

Now a CI barrel comes back to 1965...so that's weird.
As the 989M2 was made from 1966-1979...so maybe it is a CL/March, 1968??

So we could use a few nice rollstamp pics to clarify matters...might be a replaced barrel in the past...
might be other things...ya never know until you start digging a bit

The 25-rd Champion mags work fine in my 989-M2...and my 795, so far.
Correction to my code. serial number was correct but the code inside the reciver says c1 and also says newton newhaven. as soon as i learn to post pictures i will as i am new to forums and such. Thank you for your quick responces
