Default Re: Self defense fighting style

While this is just for entertainment, you can pick up a lot from UFC. UFC, not KFC, Highboy...... Although, I guess I kinda contrdict myself here, because you can pick up a family size meal....... I digress.....

Seriously though, while you will not get the full benefits of actual training and experince of a class, you can pick up quite a few moves and techniques from UFC if you watch enough and listen to some quality commentating. There are a lot of differant styles and each has it's own advantages and disadvantages depending on the opposing style and opponent. You can look at the fighters and see who you might be built like and how you might fight and learn a few moves. Grappelling techniques and choke holds can be adapted into quite a few differant styles. I know personnally, if I get into a scrap with somebody, I am looking to take them out of the fight quickly. 10-15 seconds in a guillotine and they are out. If they dont have a weapon, once you get them in, they are done. So pick up what you can, where you can.

This doesnt take the place of good training and I am not saying UFC watching is sufficient, but you can pick up a lot from it if you watch it not just to see who wins. Those guys wouldnt win without training. Look at Kimbo........
