That sounds a lot like the way my step dad died. My wife, his two sons & I all live out of town. Because I was a minister & the closest (son) I was called & arrived first. (My mom wanted to make sure her Marine would make it into Heaven)

During our visit I discovered he had had a near death experience where the Lord had appeared before him. So, there wasn't anything for me to do except give God praise & say our goodbyes.

I had to return home before his other two sons arrived. After they arrived and he said his goodbyes. He told mom he loved her, closed his eyes, took a deep breath and was gone.

I could only hope & pray to go into the presence of God in such a way.
