. If you have your eye on some prime territory the time to visit is springtime. Spend some time and labor to help the landowner to achieve his objectives. You can always make your, (low-keyed) pitch several times if you're around long enough ! ( And big deer/moose are most frequently found in farming areas.) IOW, farmers and other landowners most often take a "long-term view" on many things - not least of which is letting an armed individual on their property. >MW
