To answer your question, yes, one should have more than one 1911. I currently have only seven, but am adding to the arsenal as funds permit. AFAIAC I am seriously 1911 deficient.

On me-Springfield Armory Loaded S.S.
Car-Ruger SR1911
Couch-Springfield Armory Mil-Spec S.S.
Night stand in BR-a second Ruger SR1911
Gun Safe-Colt SAA
Range Bag-Colt Government Cal. .22
Sig-Sauer 1911-22

All are loaded and in "Condition One" at all times.
