When we lived back East in Western Pa, I'd catch blk snakes 4-5 times every summer on the road out past our house; usually after a summer rain storm. I'd take them back the house and release them in this rock pile along my lane; some would stay close too, unless the hound got them. The dog would dart in and grab snake in middle and bite in half and these were 5-6 foot snakes. You'd see two snakes flying in opposite directions.
Wife never liked it as I'd make her shift gears as I had the snake all up my arm, just holding onto the head with my grip of steel, ha ha. Then she'd really go nuts when she'd see the snakes in the yard when she was hanging clothes on the line. I kinda miss the snakes up here in Alaska, too cold.
