Default Re: Daily Devotional; formerly Chaplains Corner

As far as God laughing at those who try to deny Him, He must be rolling on the floor over this greenhouse fiasco. I think future generations will either laugh at us or curse us roundly for the stupidity we have exhibited. As you say, Psalm 2 says it so well.

I like Erma Bombeck, although I don't have any of her books. She wrote another one--If life is a bowl of cherries, why am I always in the pits? Someone said you can tell those for whom life is a bed of roses--they are always complaining about the thorns. The problem with being unhappy with where you are is not the place, but the "you". People frequently ask which is better? The US or the UK. My answer: both have their good points and their bad points; I just choose to emphasise the good points. Paul had it pretty well pegged:
Philippians 4:11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Admiral Rickover is the complete opposite from the current occupant of the White House, who always looks for someone to blame. Part of our assurance as Christians is knowing we have God's comission/authority behind us.

Joshua 1:9--Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage. Be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed, for I the Lord thy God am with thee, whithersoever thou goest.

Matthew 28:18-20: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Paul had the same sense of God's commission, and Elijah there on the mountain in 1 Kings 19, and so many others.

To those who carry out God's commands faithfully, He says "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord". God rewards the doers.

Thanks for being faithful in this, Terry.
