Keeping it in .303 caliber, shortening the barrel will not effect the accuracy of you rifle - as long as it's done right and the crown is proper. Having said that, if you are going that far, have you considerd re-barreling to another caliber? The P14 is a very strong action, and with the large bolt face a switch to .300 Win Mag might be an option. Wouldn't be all that much more cost than shortening the barrel and re-crowning, and the ammo is easier to find and more potent than .303. Just a thought.
