Inplano, that material you posted by Jeff Cooper is most interesting. He was the most vocal advocate of the 1911 pattern handgun, yet the analysis he presents seems eminently fair and well balanced. To be honest, I don't think the real issue here is polymer v. 1911, but rather polymer as a new and useful material that will be used in addition to traditional steel in handgun manufacture for many years to come.
