I have shot at the distance, both at paper, and meat, most satisfactoraly, except for the fact that the .308 is 'on the wane', lacking energy, at that range; can I hit it?, heck, yes, but 'dump it', a different queston, entirely.
With the .50BMG, the only question is about 'point of impact'; the energy is there!
If you are 'humping' it, the .50 is a bit of a load, but the bottom line is purpose, and results, for which it is the ultimate amswer.

The only problem with that, is that several ranges do not allow .50 rounds shot due to the extreme distence they can travel.
My range is a 1,000 military style range that also rents out time to special forces, navy and coast guard training, and is a full blown NRA competition facility, with regular 600 and 1,000 yard matches.....but our range does not allow .50's.
