hey ret,
acorrding to mr enfield book the trigger on a mk2 is attached to the action and not the trigger guard like the mk1 and that year they made some w/walnut stock which is rare but birch and beechwood are the common wood used for the stocks of the mk2.
as for the serial # i'd say it's for that type cause they pumped out alot of enfields and i figure the # would be higher if just counting overall production
