The only thing that had anything to worry about WAS the chicken.
The Courir is a door to door horse back parade, a trail ride of sorts. The Courir riders stop at each house and performs by playing music and danceing in exchange for ingredients for a huge Gumbo at the end of the day. The chief ingredient being the Chicken on the hoof which the drunken riders have to catch.
It's a lot of fun. These rides take place in the small towns located on the Cajun prairie between Lake Charles and Lafayette, Louisiana.
The best Mardi Gras Courir takes place in the town of Mamou.
