I quit using cleaning rods and have gone to bore snakes. I have one for each caliber I own. They are convenient and for several of my longguns that happen to have storage in the pistol grip they stay with each gun instead of my needing to lug a cleaning kit around. Rods can damage your bore and crown if not used carefully; bore snakes avoid that problem. I paid around $16.00-$17.00 a piece for mine.
