The people who moved there were generally people from up north looking to start over in a lower cost of living area with more jobs. This area was really booming a few years back and some might say that it still is... These people moved from highly restrictive firearms states (generally the Northeast) and are not used to the relaxed SC laws. Heck, that's why they should have researched the area FIRST! In any case, they do want to change the area to be more like where they came from. Talking to them, that's all they rant about for the first couple of years here. If I don't hear, "that's not the way we did it up naaaarth" again I must not be listening.

To elaborate on the north/south thing, let me say this. It is not unprovoked. The usual person who relocates to my area is from the northeast or midwest. Some genuinely like the area but they're RARE. Most will go on and on with you about how much better it is up north. My current neighbor is like that. He went on and on about how 'lazy' southerners are before he asked me if I was from the area. I said, 'yes'. That conversation wrapped up pretty quick. I've been accused of sounding more like I'm from the midwest and I guess he thought the same.

Anyway, I agree that not all folks from up north are buttholes. There are many good people on this forum from up north. I have met good friends in college from up north. A guy from NJ was in my wedding... This situation however, deals primarily with people from up north who moved here and now want to change the place. That annoys me and that's why I'm alluding to 'northerners'. I apologize to those good people here who happen to live closer to the north pole than I.
That really pisses me off! The morons move somewhere, then do nothing but b**** and moan about how "it was better up north/in CA/in NY/ etc." Well then, all I can tell them is TAKE YOUR STUPID A** BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM!!!!! I go to chruch with a guy from NY. Born and raised. Him and his wife both. He HATES NY! He told me more than once that you couldn't pay him enough to go back to NY. He said he even hates seeing NY tags on cars around here. He's very conservative. So they're not all bad. But it seems that the vast majority of them that I meet ARE bad Just because they're brainwashed into being compliant, non-violent lemmings that think the police will magically appear to protect them doesn't mean that I'm like that nor do I want to be like that!

Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges - Cicero

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen. - Samuel Adams
