Re: Flintlock Pocket Pistol
Hi Jim,
Real skill ALWAYS costs....so why should specialist gunsmiths be cheap??? I do understand what you say. What I have to ask myself is, if somebody else makes and fits the spring for £80, what would the little beauty be worth if I sold it on at some time in the future? I have no idea of the value of the piece, even in its present state, but would not wish to spend so much money on a project if it is not economically viable. Value is something I need to research a little before making any firm decision on employing a professional.
Not being a collector, like most of you guys are, and as the piece is not destined to ever be fired again, I would be quite happy to settle for the pleasure of owning and handling it in its present condition....before passing it on to someone else down the timeline.
I'm really pleased to be able to chat with you guys. Even though I am not one of the "Brotherhood of the Gun", you are prepared to find the time to give advice to me.
My thanks.
Jonty
