I have both. Hadn't shot any 9mm in 20 years and stumbled on the opportunity to buy a 1911 9mm a couple months ago. It is great.
None of my guns have ramped barrels. Reminton GS shoots in anything with Chip McCormick Shooting Star mags, and MecGars in the 9mm.

I carry 45 24/7.
Having come through situations that ANY gun of ANY caliber would have been worth $20,000 at the time,
I say shoot the biggest thing that you can shoot well in stressful situations.

It must go bang every time, and you must hit your target.
