Dardick trounds were made two ways - as cartridges in themselves and as shells into which conventional cartridges were inserted. One of Dardick's claims was that more ammo could be gotten into the magazine using trounds, but that was hype and incorrect. The tround merely filled in the triangular gaps between round cartridges.
Quite a few writers claimed the Dardick was a super gun and the wave of the future, the same as they say about every flaky idea. The simple fact is that the Dardick was bulky, had a fixed magazine, and never had any real advantages over a conventional auto pistol. Dardick was never able to get funding and only a few guns were made. For a while, Numrich listed all the parts in the catalog, and some guns were built (at high cost) from those.
