Ok, first, download the manual, if you haven't already.
Marlin has it, as well as Steve's Pages 7b.

Next, with manual open, take it apart per the instructions.
Doing otherwise can cause issues for your rifle...

Clean everything and inspect the action. Take a few pics of the guts as you take 'em apart
and post 'em, we'll look and see if we see anything funky.

Re-assemble per the instructions...doing otherwise can cause Issues...

Hopefully, someone just put the leaf spring in wrong...or it's totaly worn out.
Or the hammer might be misaligned/worn out.
Ya never know till ya get it apart...

Fortunately, they're pretty easy to figure out once you've got 'em apart.
