My family never fired guns when I was a kid. My father had a couple of old shot guns and a boys 22 rifle stuffed away in the closet. He went hunting when he was a youngster, but when I was growing up, he never shot them. When I was a kid, I always thought they were guns that he brought back from the Korean Conflict.
When my grandfather passed away my dad inherited an old Iver Johnson 38 revolver. Dad took me out when I was 16 or 17 and we shot it, once or twice. My dad would shoot that thing in single action with one hand, and he hit the bullseye every time. I inherited the gun when my father passed, and that is what got me into guns.
The gun is for the most part worthless, but considering where it came from it is priceless to me. Grandpa got the gun on a trip out west in the early 1900's.
A few years ago we had a few home invasions in our neighborhood, so I went out and bought some more modern guns. So for me shooting guns is for protection and for fun
