Yeah, I have friends that do not tell their wives about the bonus, some actively intercept the check, and specifically do NOT use direct deposit so they never know even exactly what they make.
But that is just one reason maybe why we have been happily married for 30 years last year, going on 31.
No secrets, everything shared, we scrimp together, and we share the bounty together.
I DO wish however she would have taken my advice to SHOOT me if I ever sold my Garand, but I put my foot down when she considered hocking her diamond and wedding band to buy me a set of tires for the stock car when we had a big race weekend coming up back in 1991...although it was more that I don't think she would have gotten enough for a whole SET
She occasionally gets a quarterly bonus, which she shares with me too, basically any bonus is 1/3 in the bank, 1/3 for me. 1/3 for her, but it is amazing how many times part of "our" share gets spent for something for the other as well
Heck, one of us hits a $100 or so at a casino we treat each other to a nice dinner and even split what's left then too....
Of course it MAY have something to do with me tricking her into saying the wrong vows at our wedding
She REFUSED to say the "traditional" ones with the word "Obey" in it, and we picked out a more modern set, but when the priest shoved the book inmy face, he had all kinds of notes for his sermon in red in the margin with words circled, so I kind of panicked and read the next one down....which was the traditional one.
My "Not so blushing bride" gave me a DIRTY look right at the altar. then like a trooper read the same ones....although when I remind her she actually SAID "Obey" she says she had her fingers crossed....LOL
Screwed up the Priest's sermon though LOL
