Unless you're a scratch golfer, more practice will improve your game much more than new equipment. The best game of golf I ever shot was with a borrowed set of rusty Wilson Staffs. This was back in the 80's so you know how basic those clubs were. No perimeter weighting, no graphite shafts, no anything. I don't know much about a custom fit but I do know that I've shortened shafts and re-gripped them myself. Not a big deal.
It's kind of like firearms. Most of us own guns that are far more accurate than we will ever be. So get some practice, maybe a "new" set of nice used clubs, and spend the rest on your other hobby.
