Re: Chaplains Corner
Today is Yom HaAtsmaut, or the Jewish independence Day. Yesterday, Israel held memorial services for the soldiers that have died fighting for their country. Today, they change from the solemnity of memorials to the celebration of independence! On this day in 1948, Israel declared it's independence. Less than 24 hours later, the new country was attacked by Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon. Eight months later, cease-fire agreements were signed which gave Israel more land than she had when the war started. In other words, this flea-speck of a nation cleaned the clocks of her surrounding giant Arab neighbors who were larger, richer, and better equipped.
Does that puzzle you?
It shouldn't.
God promised that land to Abraham and his seed forever.
God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
God does not go back on his promises.
Happy Birthday, Israel.
I pray that your days will be long and sunny, and that your Arab neighbors will all be caught up in their own snares.
If they dig a pit for you, I pray they will fall into it.
I pray that God will continue to strengthen your fighting forces, to give comfort to your citizens, and a bright future for you; the only democratic state in the area.
I pray that the United States will remain firmly behind Israel, our only true ally in the entire region.
Genesis 12:1-3 (KJV);
Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Has that prophecy come to pass?
Are all families of the earth blessed through the Jewish people?
