Default Re: What President has done the most good?

Thomas Jefferson penned the Declaration of Independence, and he was on the hook for those thoughts. That was not Idealism or intellectual debate, the Crown would have hung him for Sedition if they had caught him.

John Adams, same risks, put his life on the line, and did so to defend the British who (may or may NOT) have fired on the civilians, risking his own livelihood to defend them, especially in such incendiary times!

(in the same vein, almost if not ALL of the framers have to be paid the same respect, but I think those 2 really went over and above)

Reagan. Defeated the apologist Carter administration, restored faith and hope in our country, built our nation back into a proper super power and ENDED the COLD WAR by crushing the Soviet Union. "Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"

Dubya Bush. (please keep in mind, I dont even like the results or the record of his administration in many regards!)

BUT!!!!!!

Show me ANY other president that had to deal with the volume of catastrophic events! NOBODY!!! The only one even close is FDR with WW2 and Pearl Harbor and next runner up would be Lincoln.

9/11
Katrina
dot(.)COM bubble burst
Housing bubble burst (significantly CAUSED and affected by 20 years of administrations BEFORE him!)
Restored the original democratic power to Iraq, as it was before the Baath party started killing everyone.

And the blue ribbon first place winner is.... Bush. I had to change my vote from Reagan, who I respect deeply and consider myself FORTUNATE to have served in the Corps during his Administration... but now that I look at the factual adversity of the Bush Administration vs. the rest of the outside world... yeah, Dubya has shortcomings, dont we all, but look at what he DID. We're still here after all of that! (dont get me wrong, I'll spend days going on about flubs or just pure stupid moves, but NOBODY tops his list of adversity while in office, not even Lincoln)
