In the interest of full disclosure: I'm not a 1911 expert by any standard, although I've shot a variety of 1911's over the years. I'm also a 45+ year Ruger owner/shooter, (Mostly SA revolvers), and have 60+ Rugers in my arsenal along with some other non-Ruger pieces. The SR 1911 seems (to me) as solid a piece as anyone could want for the price. (MSRP 799)
The negatives to me are: 1 - The grip safety doesn't match the quality of the rest of the firearm IMO. It's functional, but feels kinda rattletrap compared to others I've handled & fired. 2 - I wasn't wild about the checkered wood grips either, and elected to put a smooth pair on it. (Not wild about these ones either, but I'll keep tryin' until something feels better!)
Other than those two items, I'm 100% satisfied with this weapon. It's extremely accurate & repeatable.

I too dislike the almost plastic or pot metal grip safety yes it does rattle.
I also don't care for the checkered grips as they are pretty rough on the hand.
I too like the function and reliability of mine and the rest of the gun is fit tightly and no cosmetic blems.
It was accurate out of the box. Way more accurate than I am.
