The Obama Administration through the Justice Department has given the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) the authority to “seize and administratively forfeit property involved in controlled-substance abuses.” In effect: those who are convicted of crimes involving alcohol and/or substance abusers will have their right to bear arms revoked.

Looks like that's only the case if the firearm is "involved" in the offense. Whatever the hell that means. If you drink beer out of a plugged barrel?

But my favorite part of the article: "Propaganda studies into gun ownership claim that alcohol abuse causes the likelihood of gun-related violence to rise, according to Dr. Garen Wintemute, professor of emergency medicine at the Prevention Research Program."

So what the good Dr. is saying is that if you intoxicate the person who owns the gun, the gun becomes more likely to hurt someone. But that seems to imply that the dangerous nature of a gun is derived from its owner which is contrary to the belief that guns are inherently dangerous.

In other words, they're admitting it's the person behind the gun that leads to the violence, not the gun itself.
