Default Can anyone tell me anything about this knife?

This knife was my grandmother's. I recently acquired it from my sister. I don't know how old it is, but it is old. It is shaped like an old fashioned lady's shoe. It is about 1 3/4 inches closed and about 3 1/4 inches open. My parents thought that my grandmother might have gotten it at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. Can anyone tell me anything about it?

Should I use Flitz and clean the blade or leave it as is?

ive seen old promo knives that were given away, but they always had the name of the product they were associated with. Coca Cola, Singer sewing machines, and several gun companies for example. thats an interesting little knife....take thos pics to the Bladeforum.... http://www.bladeforums.com/ .....you might get some answers there.

and i wouldnt clean it up, knives are like guns, leave it be!

These were fairly popular around the turn of the last century. Made in Solingen by Germania Cutlery Works. Check Ebay for values.

Well. I did my research too.........

Come to find out ....there used to be an old woman who lived in a shoe. She has so many kids she didn't know what do do.......... so she used that knife to keep them straight.

As Bill stated, very old novelty knife pattern, versions are still being made today. No, I don't think she got it at the worlds fair but it might be old enough or it may even date in the 1930's or 40's. I don't think you are going to hurt it with a little Fritz and if you know what you are doing , to sharpen it. If it were mine it would go on a key ring for show and tell and every day use. { perhaps even a silver neck chain } SIDEBAR: the grips look like Bakelite, which wasn't introduced until 1922.
