But I love em!!! First pic, I'm shooting my Ruger Vaquero 4 5/8" barrel.
It's a fun gun to shoot rabbits and prarie dogs with. The last two pics, I guess I need more bench space. ![]()

Hi Jack, my name is Devyn and I'm highboy's grandson. Highboy doesn't really shoot that good. I had to teach him how to unload his guns when we were up shooting today. He ended up taking the whole gun apart whenever he wanted to reload. A couple smacks in the head from me got him set in the right path.

That's the reason why he's bald. I have to hit him in the back of the head every now and then. Maybe next time I'll wear a metal glove. If it's an oven mitt, it'll make it feel softer for him.

SA revolvers claim a corner of my heart. I used to have an Oglesby worked Vaquero in .45 Colt. Traded it for a smoker rig, wish I had it back..

All Ruger? Hard to tell on some of the ones in the back. Angle's too sharp.

Yes except the heritage .22 cal that is on the bottom right. Picked it up for 60 bucks for the grandkids first learning gun. However once they shoot the Rugers they don't want to shoot it any more. It's in great condition but IMO they are junk guns.

Jim, you're killing me. I own 1 (one) SA revolver, and sadly in a .22 caliber.
Man I need to go shopping! |

Nice collection there Highboy! I am another fan of the single action pistols, and love to shoot them. As you stated, they may not be as popular as the semi-auto's, but they will still do the job. Ya just can't stuff as many rounds in them!

You need to have pairs, though. Singles just don't make it.

Those took me a little bit. I bought the stainless one, and really fretted because it was the New Model action (I despise New Models). I finally made up my mind to send it to Wes Flowers (for those that don't know, Wes is the best, bar none, Ruger Single Action smith in the world). We talked about what I wanted done, and he said he'd give me a holler when a space opened up.
Then a guy at work had this 7 1/2" blue one. Sold it to me for a steal. Got back in touch with Wes. Yeah, he could do both of them at the same time, and cut that barrel back also. So away they both went, and some time later I get this package with these two sweet guns. When you get a gun back from the smith, it's like getting a new gun, 'cause that one's been gone so long it's like it wasn't yours anymore. When you get multiple guns back at the same time, it's even better. When I got my 92s back from Steve Young (4 Rossi 92s, 2 Winchester 92s, a Browning 53 and a Browning 86) it was like Christmas. ![]()

Very nice collection! I didn't have much luck with my Old Model Ruger Vaquero. However, I love my Ruger Single-Six. If I ever get another single-action, I'd probably go for a Blackhawk. I definitely want adjustable sights.

There's no such thing as an "Old Model Ruger Vaquero".
Old Model and New Model refer to an action style. They quit making Old Models and started making New Models in 1973. Since 1973, when Ruger started referring to them as the New Model Blackhawk, everyone in the entire shooting world has called the one that works like a Colt - click four times when you cock it and you have to put it on half-cock to load it - as Old Models. Since Vaqueros did not appear until 1993, ALL Vaqueros are New Model. Now, in 2005 Ruger redesigned the Vaquero, and they call it the "New Vaquero". So, realistically, the ones made between '93 and '05 are "old Vaqueros". But they are not "Old Model" Vaqueros. Old Model means something else entirely. Many people call the older Vaquero "Old Model Vaquero". They are wrong. They will, undoubtedly, continue calling it that. They will continue to be wrong. So, in case anyone thought I was, maybe, being too subtle: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN OLD MODEL VAQUERO. ![]()

Love those Blackhawks. There is something about the SA that makes it still popular today after over 100 years. I have a 44, 357, 22. Wish I had more.
