Hey all first post but Ive been hanging around reading for quite awhile, just not much of a talker. Anyway my neighbor asked me to fix his Marlin 1894 levergun. His father left it to him several years ago and when he shot it yesterday (for the first time) it jammed when he went to cycle the action. Well when he brought it to me he brought the box of ammo he was trying to shoot. Yes, he loaded the tube with 22lr instead of 22wmr. So now he has a slightly bent round stuck half in the tube magazine. The action will not cycle or move and I cant get the round to move with gentle prying. I have never torn down a 1894. Can the trigger and lever assembly be dropped out easily, or are there any problems I need to be aware of? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, mb1. I see you have been around a while; glad to hear from you.
I suppose the first consideration is the bent .22lr rimfire live round stuck in the magazine. The second is are there more rounds up the magazine that will need to be removed. This is an unofficial disassembly manual for the Marlin 1894: http://marauder.homestead.com/files/marlin94.html This document also has an exploded view of the rifle. Youtube have some videos on 1894 disassembly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aI74nINt4MM That's a start. Youtube has a few videos...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmBpXvzdQ84 |

Thanks guys. Yes the round is live. I did remove all of the other live rounds from the magazine. The other issue I am facing is the action is stuck open. Will this hamper the takedown of the rifle?
Black Eagle, thanks for the welcome and the links, they are exactly what I was hoping for. Ive actually been hanging around for a couple of years. I finally joined in in Jan to ask a question but resolved it before I got around to asking. Like I said Im more of a listener(reader) than a talker(writer). |
