Default Waldo Canyon Fire - Colorado Springs

The Waldo Canyon fire in Colorado Springs is not the largest but definitely the most destructive, with ~350 homes destroyed. We are fortunate to not have to deal with this, but many do. This blog shows what it has been like for them.
We need to remember them in our prayers.

The largest fire ever in my neck of the woods was a little over 1800 acres in 1980. We thought that was bad.

We have had these fires in our prayers for over a week now -
I will have them in the pastoral prayer this AM as well -

Heavenly Father, we come before you this morning with an urgent request.
We ask that you would have mercy on the people dealing with these fires.
We ask that you would intervene, and bring them under control.
We ask that you would protect the people in their path.
We ask that there would be no more losses.
We ask that you would protect each life in danger here.
We ask that you would bring help to those that have already had losses.
We ask that you would be with each one that is fighting these fires, that you would let each one know that their work is appreciated, and that you would give them a special blessing.

And we ask all of these things in the name of Jesus the Christ, the author and finisher of our faith -

Amen -

Amen.
Colorado Springs is home base to the Navigators, a Christian organisation that has had a huge influence in my life, especially their Eagle Lake camp 7 miles up Queen's Canyon. It appears that Glen Eyrie, Navigators' HQ, close to the Garden of the Gods, is relatively intact, but Eagle Lake has had to cancel camps for the rest of the summer.

It now appears most evacuees can return to their homes now:

With the 350 homes destroyed by the Waldo Canyon fire, 259 by the High Park fire, 23 by the Estes Park fire, and multiple other fires, where they have not released the damage yet. We are probably getting close to having 700 families lives destroyed..........so far this year. Record year. Records we did NOT want to see broken.
