Many years ago I took in a Sig Sauer P245 to settle a debt. It shoots very good but the Parkerized finish has seen better days. Not sure why in this old pic the grips came out purple
![]() ![]() Decided to try DuraCoat to spruce up the old dog. I used an airbrush. The stainless had to be reduced 10% but applied very easy. I sprayed it Saturday, assembled it today. Instructions say 3-4 weeks before heavy use. I will see how it holds up down the road. ![]()

Man, that thing looked rough in the 'before.' Good job.

Very nice work and thanks for the post as I've been wondering about doing a handgun with DuraCoat that has seen a better finish long ago.

thanks to all
From the instruction sheet; Remember DuraCoat doesn't wear, but you dropped it down the mountain, or had more than 100,000 draws from you holster it might need a touch up. so who knows? this one hangs out in the nightstand with just an occasional trip to the range so it should last a long time. I also painted a scrap piece of raw steel so after 3 weeks I'll see what kind of abuse it will take
