Nice Buck, And I LOVE those drop tines!
![]() ![]() That one definitely is a candidate for mounting...where in Indiana did you get it? How much did it weigh? It looks like it's at least a 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 year old from the pics, right? And how old is your son? Congratulations!!! And you may have answered one of my other posts too...158 yds is a LOT longer than I can reach with a slug, so maybe a "Pistol Caliber Rifle" would be a good bet....THANKS!

I'll pass your congrats along ...... my son is 35. This deer is gonna end up on the wall ! I'm guessing weight at about 150 pounds or more, dressed. The deer was taken in Grant county... about halfway between Ft Wayne, and Indianapolis.
That 240 gr JSP bullet did not exit. It went in just behind the right shoulder, and pulverized the left shoulder bones. I asked him to try and recover the bullet, but I have a feeling that's not gonna be very high on his priority list. ![]()

I will add my congratulations to the rest here. Looks like the two of you had a really great hunt together. Its, in my opinion a great hunt though any time you and your son have time to be together. His killing a really nice buck just makes it that much better.

Jay, I hope you don't have to endure what I did when my son got HIS first buck...I taught him, I worked with him, I bought him the muzzleloader kit and we built it together... I built his stand, put it right where I knew he would have a chance at the nice spike I was seeing when I was scouting and bow-hunting.... Opening day he GETS the spike, I gut it, drag it, hang it, skin it...he DID help me cut it up though... ![]() After all that the opening weekendI finally get time to hunt some more the next weekend, and finally end up killing a decent doe.... But do I get ANY respect? ![]() NOooo... ![]() ALL that season, and another, until I got my NEXT one, he referred to HIMSELF as the "Buck Hunter," while I was "just" the "Doe Killer...." ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
