Default What did I just buy? CZ-452

Just happened upon a CZ-452 rifle in 22.LR. 24" barrel, 95%+ condition. Hooded front sight & adjustable rear sight. Scope dovetails. 5 Shot mag. I'm wondering what model of 452 I got. Paid $199 for it at a pawn shop & the guy didn't know much about it. CZ-452-2E-ZKM on the reciever. serial 729473. Any help as to what model of 452, year made, value is much appreciated

The Standard Catalog of Firearms says you have a CZ 452-2E ZKM. Synthetic stock, matte nickel finish, 5 round magazine, 22.5 inch barrel. NIB 375, Exc. 275, VG 225.

Thanks for your reply. It's actually got a wood stock with checkering & metal is blued. Looks like a walnut stock. I havn't checked to see if the trigger is adjustable yet. I don't know my CZ's too well.

Popgunner. The CZ-452 is a great little rifle. You should be a shamed of yourself. You stole that rifle. All kidding aside, you got a real good deal.

The trigger is adjustable. If you read the thread below, in one of my post I write about changeing the trigger spring for cheap money. This is a really sweet little .22. A sleeper.
Check out this thread.

Popgunner,

Yes, Artabr is right about your rifle. If the comb of the stock is arched, and the forend has a curl of wood (schnoble) on the end, made of turkish walnut, it is a Lux model. If it has a straight comb and a rounded forend it is an American model. Both have checkering on the grip, the Lux generaly do not have it on the forend. Great rifles to be sure. Let us know how it shoots as I think you are about to get a pleasant surprize. Since it has the open sight I guess it has to be the Lux, and the American has no sights.

Best regards Kirk

Wow Art
That's a treasure trove of info for me on your thread-lots of links too

I looked on the CZ site & mine looks just like their "Lux" model although they list the barrel on a lux as 28" & mine is 24".

Kirk
I think I am going to love this little rifle. I have a soft spot for good iron sights from my silluette days. I've tried the trigger using a fired case as a snapcap-didn't know if I should be dry-firing it. Trigger seems great. Nice & crisp with no creep. Can't wait to really shoot it

Popgunner, I think what you have is what CZ calls their Trainer model. It is not pictured on web site. The Lux has a 28" barrel and a better grade of wood. The Trainer has a 24" barrel.
Don't let the name fool you, it's a great shooter.
To adj. the trigger, take the barreled action out of the stock and turn the square nut on the trigger spring.

Popgunner,

The 28" barrel can only be one model, it is called the Ultra Lux. I have two of the lux versions and an ultra lux. The ultra lux is fitted in a model 527 centerfire stock and has a cheek piece on the left side of the butt stock, with a recoil pad. Artabr might be right, if is has no checkering and the stock is beechwood. Hope this helps Kirk

Look on the left side of the receiver near the barrel. Date will
be stamped on it. I had a lux with 24" barrel and walnut stock.
You got a good buy at that price.

Popgunner:

Everything you would ever want to know about a CZ452 can be gotten from

http://rimfirecentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=18

The trigger pull level is adjustable but if you buy and install the Brook's Trigger Kit you can easily adjust the creep as well, replace the trigger spring with a lighter spring, and end up with an extremely good trigger in the one to three pound range.

The CZ452/3 are absolutley the most 22LR rifles for the least money. When the triggers are modified as above, the barrel floated (suppose to be from the factory but the wood can warp and touch the barrel somewhere along its path), and the receiver bedded, you end up with a gun that will shoot with the best of them. They actually are quite good right out of the box if the barrel floating is verified and fixed. Some need bedding and some people like better triggers than stock. But yours might shoot well right out of the box.
