Does anyone know what this round is.
F N 46 is the stamp on it. It was used in a machine gun.

Welcome to the forum
The round was made by Fabrique Nationale d'Armes de Guerre (FN), Herstal, Belgium in 1946 They made ammo for several calibers at that time. We would need dimensions of the round in question to determine what caliber it is.

Welcome to the forum.
Can't tell what caliber it is without a pic but it was made by Fabrique Nationale d'Armes de Guerre (FN), Herstal, Belgium in 1946. Just taking a shot in the dark (pun intended ) I'd guess that it is a .30-06, but like I said that's just a guess. Edit: Islenos, I think we both went to the same site. ![]() Art

Your links are bad.
Normally, the number stands for the year the ammo was made. WCC62 is Western Cartridge Corporation, 1962. FA18 is Frankford Arsenal, 1918. FC96 is Federal Cartridge, 1996. Your FN46 should be Fabrique Nationale, 1946.
