Well in a worst case scenario you have to decide which Mili arm to pic and run with. Which will it be and why?
Rifle -A3 -M1 Garand or Carbine -M14 -M16 Pistol -38 revolver -45 colt -9mm semi Misc -Trench 12ga -Thompson sub machine gun -Grease gun

Only one? Or one of each?
A3? 03, maybe? or 03A3? I don't know "A3".Shouldn't have "garand or carbine" as the same option. They are two totally different guns, used for totally different purposes. I also see you said, "military", but your list is all US?

M1 Garand. Because I am more familiar with it than any other. Also, I have great faith in it having been introduced to it in basic training and having used it for service rifle competitions.

A3 in .308 would be my choice from the list you gave us.

If we are talking purely survival, I would have to take the 12ga. With the variety of ammo available its more "multi-purpose".

45, I can run faster with a couple of pounds of pistol than I can with 8 pounds of rifle and ammo. Besides in a worst case scenario I will be hiding in every nook and cranny I can find and avoid confrontation like the plague. Easier to do that with a holstered or pocketed pistol than a rifle.
If I could stay hunkered up then it would be the M1 and a large pile of magazines that I would spend my time loading. Grab and go give me the small package.

I'd have to agree. Either the 12 ga. or the .45 for me too.

all depends on what i am doing a 12 ga for cqb and a VZ-58 is another one of those arm's you should have included . but a VZ-58 or a arsenal ak is a grat all around gun. a 45 would be my side kick just a 1911
one other thing you forgot was a good bolt gun. |

9mm but only if it's my browning hi-power. reason.... it has served me well for over 30 years. i can also run faster with a handgun than a rifle or shotgun. but if pressed into only picking a long gun it would be a shot gun ,again with various loadings it will handle most situations

to me there is only one choice with the info given,i take it i must run with all the ammo i can carry with me.ar type is high enough power to hunt or to defend with and ammo is small enough and light enough to carry large amounts.it will kill a tree rat,a rabbit, deer,or with careful shot placement any animal on north america, including the two legged type. old semperfi

M1 Garand
I can shoot far if I need, shoot many rounds one after another quickly, it has good knockdown power, I can most likely find ammo for it, (if in the US,) and I've always wanted to shoot one. ![]()

My choice would be for the M16 & 1911 .45..........................I'm very familiar with these weapons and confident in using them. They've actually 'saved my bacon' on occaision so I have to go with what worked for me.

Me too -
M16 and 1911. When I used the M16 in the service, it was still called the AR15, because it had not been approved yet; we were the guinea pigs on that one. Fell in love with it then, and still am - -

i would go with a 45 1911. it is concealable, and you can run with it easier than a rifle.
