I have always loved that folding stock. I have a couple of original GI WW2 Carbines (Winchester and National Postal Meter), and while I know that stock is not correct for them, that is the coolest stock the M1 Carbine ever sported.

To me, the original 'folding paratrooper' stock is clunky.

The foldig stock on this gun is' Pre-Ban"; way pre-ban!

It's been a while, but it is one of two models that was made in the good ol' U.S.of A. (hardwood; steel and plastic grip) by a company long gone; and whose name I've forgotton.

The other model was made for the Ruger 10/22. With that stock and the old Weaver "Aim Point" sight; and one of the high capacity .22 clips availible back then; it made a compact little rifle!

These were Geman Schmeisser style stocks. Push in the two buttons at the rear of the stock; grab the buttplate and pull the assy down around and up; untill it "clicks" into place

Neat "Pre- Ban" Stocks.

IMO the finest rifle ever made in a caliber that gets the job done. Thanks for the pic. I had a select fire one at the agency I worked for. I hated to give it back when I left.

I have a stainless ruger stk mini 14 that looks alot like that one; bought it way back after I saw contra kids with them on the news. Fits under raingear and all, but I hardly ever drag it out of the gun safe. Prefer a short AR with collapsing stock for dependability. Too much dirt gets in from the top for me.

that stock is worth as much as the gun. Some early commercial guns used GI parts, but not Universal.

The stocks were made by Bianchi.
Early Universal carbines used all GI parts. The later the model, the less they used GI parts.
Plainfields were good commercial guns. Both Plainfield and Universal were bought out by Iver Johnson in the 1980s.
