Default Walther PP Sporter 22 short?

Have a old German PP Sporter and came across a 22 short magazine for a Walther 22 Sporter. Is the mag all that is needed to use 22 short in this otherwise 22 LR?

It is the mag with the brown plastic grip at the bottom.

You can use the mag to load .22 shorts, but it will only function as a single shot. You will have to pull the slide back to chamber and eject each round. The long rifle mag should do the same thing with shorts.
