Default NRA 100 Anniversary Colt

I got my eyes on a Colt, SA, .45C that is an NRA 100 Anniversary Commerative...Its mechanically excellent, the finish appears to have been part nickle and part blue, part case hardening, but now nearly totally gone...Little rust or pitting.. Doesnt appear to have been buffed or the original finish otherwise mechanically removed....A few patches of nickle on the cylinder...some case hardening...some blue....Sad shape finish wise.

I want a shooter. But definately will need some restoration work. Maybe nickle plate the thing would be easiest route..Figure that about $150..

Anyone know the round-a-bout worth of a piece in this condition? Ive seen the excellent/mint models with presentation case at auction for about $1700....Im thinking around $500, but the owner seems to be under the impression it is worth considerably more..

Am I about right with the $500 offer?

Sorry, no pictures available...

What's it worth? Your thought of five hundred is about right, maybe even a little generous.

What will people pay for it? Ahhhh, That is something else entirely. If it says COLT on the side, people are going to pay at least a grand.

It ain't nowheres near worth that much, but that doesn't change it. People are fools, and Colt SAA gonna cost you at least a grand, no matter the condition.

I would think that $500 would be more than fair; but the seller thinks he's got a goldmine, then be prepared to walk away. Sure would like pics to see this mess; I dont' think they did any with that combo of finishes; I'm guessing at some point someone tried to put a nickel plating on it maybe?? Do the serial numbers all match up and have you ran the serial numbers?
