When was the last time you sat around a fire, roasted some hot dogs, and just enjoyed the fire itself?

2 years ago next week and next week that's exactly what I'll be doing with my youngest son and 6 of my buddies in deer camp.

every single night when I'm hunting; sometimes can be a real challenge to get one going here in the cascades too. But I always have one, no matter how crappy it is outside, maybe just scared of the boogie man?
just doesn't seem right without a fire at night in the woods. at home, we'll spark up the bonfire about once a month to burn off yard debris and timmings, scrap wood, etc.

I'll be going to a bonfire tonight after work. It's been about a year since the last pig roast. Sometime during deer season we camped out at a guys cabin and had a fire. The next morning we went hunting and came in early to cook some eggs, biscuits, and some deer meat over the fire. It was possibly one of the best breakfasts I have had. I need to get one scheduled for this year.

Since I heat with wood, I don't think that qualifies me in this conversation.

Nearly every weekend last winter. It is getting down into the 80s now so it won't be long before I can put the fire pit to use again. Not feasible in the summer when it is still 100+ 10pm.

almost once a week we have a fire when we are at our ranch I enjoy sitting and being quiet by the fire and having a good cup of coffee I had a nephew out one evening and he is one of those guys who don't know how to shut the **** up I had to tell him that we enjoy the time quietly and if we talk we use our "inside" voice plus we have a wood burning stove for supplimental heat so we go through several cords of wood a year Last edited by dbcooper; 10-06-2012 at 02:24 PM.. |

We do this often here. More so in the cooler months, but a fire is just as pretty in the summer, as it is in the winter! You just don't set as close! About 8:30 the coyotes get to singing, and the traffic on the road begins to quieten down. Unless the high school is having a football game. They are only a mile away, and we can hear the band form here.

Way cheaper than buying one, and you get to make it as big as you want to!

I got to impress a bunch of city-folk, couple of years ago, around a fire. Christmas party, and there was one of them portable fire pits on the driveway. Somebody put a beer bottle in it, and everyone was, "Oh my god, get it out, get it out, it'll explode". I said, "No it won't. It'll just melt.".
Nobody believed me, but they decided to take on chance on it exploding, and we all sat and watched it melt. They thought that was so cool they put four or five more bottles in.

Could use a fire here right now. It's 43 degrees outside. I have a fire box on my deck. I get some fires going all the time in the winter.

I figured you would be along on this one. You probably spend more time around a fire than most of us here.
